Working Together to Improve Access to Personal Support Services

Personal Support Workers provide assistance with personal care and other routine activities of daily living, as well as basic homemaking services.    

The North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN is working with its care-providing partners to identify strategies to reduce the gap between Personal Support supply and demand. The LHIN is also working alongside the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to identify and begin implementing solutions to Personal Support human resource challenges in the province so that individuals can remain in their communities for as long as possible.

 

Did you know...Demand for personal support services in North Simcoe Muskoka is projected to grow nine times faster than the workforce between 2015-16 and 2021-22; that escalates to 20 times faster than the workforce between 2015-16 and 2035-36. 

 

Did you know...At a planning forum held November 9, 2017 in Barrie, key stakeholders participated in collectively identifying and prioritizing change ideas to reduce the gap between supply and demand of Personal Support Workers in North Simcoe Muskoka.
