As respected practicing physicians within their communities, the part-time Clinical Leads will contribute their evidence-based clinical expertise and their experience serving patients to champion high-quality and safe care in their respective regions, reflecting local patient and health care provider priorities.
Under the guidance of Dr. Rebecca Van Iersel, the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN’s Vice- President Clinical, and with the support of other LHIN Clinical Leads, LHIN staff, and partners, the Leads will support the design and implementation of the LHIN’s primary care strategy. They will work closely with primary care providers, inter-professional teams, and health care administrators to assist in developing a more integrated network of care within their community, including primary care, public health, home and community care, mental health and addictions, long-term care, and acute care.
“Each of the five Clinical Leads understands the unique issues, priorities, and health care needs of their communities,” says Jill Tettmann, Chief Executive Officer of the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN. “I am confident they will bring their experience and perspective to build a culture in their communities where patients, families, and caregivers have a voice and the community remains at the heart of discussions and decisions.”
The leads were hired through a community based selection process, with an interview panel made up of representatives from across the health care sector in each local community. To lead our medical system towards culturally safe care, representatives from the Aboriginal Health Circle participated in the interviewing process and questions were created with the input of the Francophone and Indigenous communities.
All five Clinical Leads will start their work with the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN immediately.
