Community Network of Clients, Caregivers and Family

The Local Health Integration Network has access to information and opportunities regarding health care that we would love to share with interested citizens of North Simcoe Muskoka.  If you would like to register to be part of our ‘network’, you will receive updates from the NSM LHIN regarding ongoing initiatives, information from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Ontario Home Care, Health Quality Ontario, etc., as well as many other local health care and community partners.

You will also receive opportunities to participate in our ongoing work and that of our partners and stakeholders.  We receive requests frequently for client and caregiver participation on provincial and local committees (time-limited or ongoing), on provincial and local focus groups, quality improvement initiatives, surveys, advisory panels and much more.  By registering here, you will receive information and participation opportunities and you can choose how much or how little you would like to participate based on your time, availability or interest.

Please send an email to Sheila Winegarden, Community Engagement Coordinator with the subject line stating - Community Network. Sheila will be pleased to add you to the growing list of residents who choose to be informed and part of the NSM LHIN's commitment to improving the patient journey in our region and your community.

North Simcoe Muskoka Patient Family Advisory Council

North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN is seeking community member to participate on the Patient Family Advisory Council.

Engaging stakeholders regarding the local health system needs and LHIN priorities is critical to NSM LHIN's mandate.  The panel will serve as a forum for dialogue as they advise the LHIN on issues and perspectives related to health system goals and objectives, as a way of achieving person-centred health care within the local North Simcoe Muskoka health system.

With the assistance and leadership of NSM LHIN staff, the Advisory Council will:

  • provide system level advice and guidance to support the successful implementation of the LHIN's strategic plan - Integrated Health Service Plan 2019-2022, work and other LHIN and Ministry strategic priorities
  • act as a resource and to work in collaboration with other NSM LHIN planning groups or committees.

Expectations

The Advisory Panel meets every three months (4 times per year or as needed) and membership is extended to all North Simcoe Muskoka residents.  The group has been active since March 2015.

Meetings require some pre-reading or preparatory time for members.  Meeting packages and materials are distributed approximately one week in advance (as available) and we ask that you come prepared for discussion based on personal experiences as a patient or informal caregiver.

While providers will have excellent perspectives regarding their clients' experiences, we hope that you will bring a more personal viewpoint to health system discussions.

Note: Any resident working for or on the Board of a LHIN-funded health service provider or another health care agency applying for membership on the Advisory Committee, will not be considered due to potential conflict(s) of interest.
