Personal Support Capacity Reports
We know that personal support services are pivotal to providing care that patients and families need, when they need it and where they want to receive it. As demand for personal support services across the long-term care continuum continues to grow, we are experiencing challenges in access to personal support services across the province. Locally, the NSM LHIN is collaborating with partners to explore strategies to maximize existing PSW capacity and has undertaken an examination of the factors affecting the gap between supply and demand of PSWs in the NSM region. Phase one of this work to date has included 30 key informant interviews, a literature review and a quantitative analysis, which included personal support demand projections to 2021-22 and to 2035-36.

Health Equity Impact Assessment
Health Equity is a key component of quality health care. The Health Equity Impact Assessment (HEIA) is a practical tool that health service providers can use to identify and address potential health impacts (positive and negative) of a plan, policy or program on specific population groups - particularly those who are most vulnerable and marginalized.
The HEIA tool includes a template, workbook and supplements that target the unique needs of, and special considerations for, francophone and immigrant populations. The workbook provides detailed instructions and walks users through HEIA's four steps: scoping, impact assessment, mitigation and monitoring.
Providers are encouraged to apply HEIA when developing their Health System Improvement Proposal.
