The Royal Victoria Hospital Board of Directors has approved a Hospital Improvement Plan, allowing RVH to meet its financial obligation to balance the hospital’s budget, while maintaining quality and safe patient care. The hospital was directed to develop the plan by the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). RVH ended the 2009/10 fiscal year with a $3 million deficit.

The North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN is expanding its successful Aging at Home strategy. Ontario is providing the NSM LHIN with $11,635,000 to ensure more seniors get health care at home or in the community.

In response to requests by patients and visitors, Royal Victoria Hospital is implementing a new visitor parking system on July 19.  The new system provides a variety of pay options -- including short term parking -- instead of one flat fee. Revenues generated from parking will be directed towards patient care and the purchase of medical equipment.
